New year.
New week.
New month.

It gives your brain a reason to reset.

So let’s use it.

Start with hydration.

Because hydration is the easiest habit to anchor everything else to.

Interesting fact:
Even a 1–2% drop in hydration levels can affect mood, focus, and energy.

Not severe dehydration.
Just slightly under-hydrated.

That small drop can increase fatigue, headaches, and even cravings.

Your body is mostly water.

When hydration is off, everything feels harder than it should.

So this month, make water your baseline again.

Around 2 liters per day.
Spread throughout the day.

Now let’s stack something on top of that.

Sleep.

If hydration is the foundation, sleep is the recovery system.

Here’s a simple structure you can use tonight:

2 hours before bed:
Dim most of the lights in your house.
Use warm or yellow lighting if possible.

1 hour before bed:
Start winding down.
Reduce your phone brightness.

30 minutes before bed:
Consume something calming.
For me, it’s rooibos tea with no sugar.

15 minutes before bed:
Shower.
I prefer cold, but lukewarm works too.

And when you enter your bedroom…

Don’t touch your phone.

Your bedroom should be sacred.
Sleep only.

If you train yourself to scroll in bed, you’re reinforcing a habit.

And when you’re tossing and turning, your brain will look for the behavior it knows.

Reset the environment, and you reset the behavior.

New month.

Better hydration.
Better sleep.
